Natural Therapies

Ear Candling

An ear candling session is like a spring clean and has been used for centuries to help in the temporary relief of headaches, tinnitus, sore throat and allergies. It involves the use of a hollow beeswax and cotton candle with the narrow end held gently onto the edge of the ear. The flame creates a vacuum in the ear which draws out poisons, old wax, residues of past infection, fungus and fluid. The heat stimulates the peripheral blood circulation, thus strengthening the immune system as well as the cleansing circulation of the lymph glands. Ear Candling may also be beneficial for sinus irritation, toxic residue from medications, glue ear or swim ear and foggy head. Highly recommended before taking a flight and for relieving pressure after flying or sea diving.

Traditional Chinese Cupping

Cupping is a traditional therapy that remains favoured by millions of people throughout the world because it is a time-honoured, safe, comfortable and effective treatment for many health disorders. Cupping is usually performed by introducing heat into a glass cup or similar object and placing it immediately on the skin. The vacuum created produces a suction effect that increases blood circulation to the local area, relaxes muscle tissue and releases the factors causing pain. Another popular method is to withdraw the air from inside the cup with a suction pump. Cupping is beneficial for respiratory disorders (e.g. cold and flu, bronchitis, asthma), digestive problems, muscle and joint pain, gynaecological problems (e.g. menstrual pain, irregular menstruation, infertility).

Reiki

Reiki is an ancient Japanese therapy that translates to ‘Universal Life Force Energy’.  It was rediscovered by Dr.Usui in approximately 1890.  Reiki is a a holistic healing technique that promotes your optimum health and well being – it helps to restore you to a state of balance by unlocking your body’s natural healing abilities.

You are fully clothed during a Reiki treatment whilst Sarah moves her hands to different positions on or over your body, directing Reiki energy.
Reiki is excellent for treating a wide variety of conditions ranging from back pain to anxiety. It is especially beneficial for painful conditions that aren’t suitable to be treated with other manual therapies.

Common conditions treated with Reiki include:
       Neck/back/hip/foot pain
       Headaches
       Home, work or sporting injuries
       Menstrual conditions
       Digestive complaints
       Anxiety
       Depression
       Insomnia
       Stress

Reiki generally makes you feel more relaxed and better able to cope with life’s challenges.
